Eyeball Chat Review
Application software download free Windows
Eyeball Chat brings together instant messaging, voice and video chat functionality for a versatile online communication tool. Built adeptly for instant messaging, the program enables users to keep track of buddies thanks to an integrated address book, and it supports drag-and-drop file sharing. In addition, Eyeball Chat features picture-in-picture video display and allows up to eight users to engage in a simultaneous Webcam video chat.
The straightforward graphical interface clearly marks a user's buddies as either online or offline, and a list of their current IM status appears at the bottom of the window. In addition, the program connects to AIM, MSN and Yahoo, allowing users to conduct real-time text chats with their buddies, regardless of what service they're using or whether they're logged in. It also offers a video message feature that sends your buddies a link to watch your Webcam video (a first for this class of client).
Eyeball Chat's real-time video chat functionality, while decent, falls short of the quality of Skype. During a video call, the software plants up to four different windows on the desktop -- one to display the view from your camera, another for your buddy's face, a third to hold the typed chat and the main Eyeball Chat window. The application doesn't work with ICQ accounts, though it does offer comprehensive NAT traversal through the Eyeball AnyFirewall solution. Installation is easy, and the 3MB download automatically recognises a computer's audio and video hardware.
